Not a licensed contractor Quartzsite Business Licensed Summer 2014 Although summer has been almost too hot to ride, the Bouse Ghost Riders OHV Club has been active attending meetings and corresponding with the various government agencies involved in our trail system. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has not been able to fi nalize the La Posa Travel Management Plan (TMP) this summer as scheduled. The public involvement has indicated to the BLM that the planning process is not well understood so additional outreach by BLM is planned. Many winter visi- tors have complained about trails being closed by BLM who have not bothered to provide written comments regarding the specifi c routes they want kept open and why they use those trails. Even though the TMP maps are dif- fi cult to understand, our club has held comment writing sessions to address routes we want kept open for specifi c reasons and the BLM has responded very favorably by changing many of the routes from closed to open. There are a few routes we requested to be opened that remain closed due to environmen- tal or archeological reasons. It is very important to let BLM know if there are specifi c routes you want kept open and why. We have heard that Arizona Game & Fish Department will become the land manager for Planet Ranch. It may be some time before this is fi nalized, but once done, they plan to open the exist- ing trails across the ranch to the public. This will create a good OHV route be- tween Parker and Lake Havasu City. Safety is so important on our trails. Accidents can impact the future of our OHV recreation opportunities. Re- member to abide by basic safety rules, wear eye protection, never ride two up on a vehicle not designed for two, and stay on the existing trails. PLEASE NOTE: There have been some heavy storms that have done signifi cant dam- age to a few trails at wash crossings. If you start riding early this fall, please watch for washouts because some could be dangerous. The Bouse Ghost Riders OHV Club is looking forward to our fi rst fall meeting scheduled for November 17 and every- one is invited. J. C.
