8 www.DesertMessenger.com October 15, 2014 LETTERS FROM PAGE 7 Contributed by: Violet Kiss What's in the air? Can you see it? The Snowbirds are slowly coming! I know they are going to see such a big difference in Quartzsite this Winter Season. They are going to love us! We are all go- ing to have fun! I don't know if many of you get on Facebook and on so many Quartzsite 'pages', and there are many, but I see a "community" coming together. It happened last July 4th at Town Park and all of the festivities by many organizations, Town Hall, and a great number of townsfolk. It happened on Labor Day under Councilperson, Carol Kelley, and the many organiza- tions, again. I see the community together working to make sure Rotary Doings First locally-owned and operated music station in Quartzsite, Arizona. Proudly serving the communities of Quartzsite, Bouse, Brenda, Rainbow Acres, La Paz Valley and beyond, since 1988. Quartzsite Radio • Quartzsite's Favorite "CLASSIC HITS" • Local Information • Weather • 24 Hours Day / 7 Days Week! KBUX 94.3 FM 928-927-5111 http://kbuxradio.com the kids, our town's kids, have a good ole Halloween and with plenty to do. Most importantly, I see everyone including families coming out to enjoy themselves. Now, as we are fi nishing our plans for November 8th, Rotary Day, I see such an outpouring of people, new citizens, new visitors and our existing townspeople sit down together, bring in wonderful new ideas and simply, help. We're all talking, laughing, yes, possibly debating, but, nonetheless, helping each other…and enjoying it. What a wonderful sight to see. I'm going to leave the talking about Rotary Day and all of the goings-on to a most capable Rotarian, Judi Clark, to talk about this fun event and all of the details you will want to read about elsewhere in this edition of Desert Messenger. See you next time. blame game, do your job! You have lost your compassion! If you don't know who to vote for, VOTE FOR CHANGE, VOTE FOR HENSHAW,TIMBERLAKE, JACK- SON. All three are involved in our community, school, and children. If I were still living in Arizona, I'd be vot- ing for them. They're visible in both schools, attending school board meet- ings. Two already have knowledge in school board law. One sits on the board, but having only one vote can get little done, having to reprimand current board president on proper procedures because she's lacking in proper training. After this letter I'm sure you will begin to hear things to discredit me. I gave a two-week (almost 3-week) no- tice before leaving with my retirement. Being an "at will" employee which is on the law book books in Arizona, you don't even need to give a notice. I was reminded many times by the current superintendent that I could be let go for no reason. All last school year I was telling the superintendent I was retiring during the year, not wanting to give too much notice, a recommen- dation I received by an attorney. I sent each board members and Mrs. Price letters with complaints and with dates of my complaints and the charg- es I could have brought up against her and my resignation date, but I didn't bring charges against her because all I wanted was my earned retirement. I never received any response, no phone call or letter of acknowledgement. So vote for change if you want to see an improvement in your school district. VOTE HENSHAW, TIMBER- LAKE, JACKSON. Debra Peterson Westfall THE WAY I SEE IT The voters and property owners of Quartzsite are being duped. We have fallen for a pie in the sky scam beyond compare. We are being led to believe that because of a debt, under control, of a few thousand dollars, our town should be taken over by La Paz County. A county that incurred a debt of fi ve mil- lion dollars. That's a fi ve with six zeros after it. Do your math before you vote. Do your duty as a smart voter and study the issues. Don't fall for the rhetoric of the underhanded selfi sh fat cats pedaling garbage to pull the wool over your eyes to veil the conse- quences. Remember the old computer saying, garbage in garbage out? If you don't want to study both sides of an issue you may not qualify to cry over the milk you have spilled. The county needs our money and the proposal of the mayor and his minions, means for the county to have it. Remember we as voters and home owners will have to pay the piper. Only us, only us. Not the fat cats or the politicians waiting to swoop in and scoop up the remains, on the cheap. .....You may not need a wallet anymore to keep your money in, if that happens. Just who do you suppose is behind the selective vandalism of candidates signs? Elmer London, Quartzsite 3 HANK YOU'S I want to thank Ray, from Best Auto. He was so major sweet; he saw me at the Mountain Quail Cafe and paid for the dinner of Pretty Girl, Foxy2 and me. What a sweet and great surprise! Thank you again Ray for being so kind and caring and loving. We 3 greatly appreciated you kindness. I also want to thank Marka and Mike from Mountain Quail RV Park for their kindness and support for the baby's and their mommy. You all are so great! Marka, thank you for all the hard work that you are doing with the cleaning up for the baby's and just me in the yard. You have got it major looking great! Also want to thank Kirk Peterson for the help that he did for the mobile and to fi x the vacuum for me. I know how busy he is and works so late, but still took the time. I appreciated that so much, Kirk. Glenda Kae Hines Quartzsite year round resident THANK YOU This Thank You letter is a bit different than some but I felt I needed to write it and share it with you. For the past year I have been cashiering at Dol- lar General and during this time have grown to know and enjoy many local and snowbird customers. I've looked forward to seeing you come through the door, sharing brief conversations and exchanges of how you are doing and the silly banter of tossing com- ments back and forth. I wanted to SEE LETTERS PAGE 9
