Constables are On-Call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I don't have dependent children, which could hinder necessary immediate response. 3. Vision: To continue the commit- ment to provide compassionate and re- spectful service within the community. When services are needed, people are in difficult and stressful situations. I'll do my best to handle these matters with dignity, respect and compassion. To di- rect those in need to available commu- nity resources. To partner with civic, religious and private organizations to build a strong network of community support to help those in need. 4. Because I already have experience as the Constable, I know firsthand what is required of me as an elected official. Among those requirements are these: • Executing and returning writs of pos- session or restitution (evictions); • Serving orders of protection or orders prohibiting harassment; • Serving civil and criminal summons and subpoenas; • Providing judicial security to the jus- tice courts; • Levying and returning writs of execu- tion (seizing property to satisfy judg- ments); • Storing personal property that has been levied; and • Conducting constable sales of levied property (like sheriff's sales) To continue to execute court orders in a timely manner. Working diligently to ac- quire needed supplies and equipment. The important part is to continue to uphold a high standard in the office of the Constable. It doesn't matter if it's another officer, Judge, a person on the street or my best friend; if the court orders it, the order will be carried out in a timely manner. A Constable work- ing with the Court needs to maintain the highest ethics and standards so the public can maintain their trust in the court system. Because of my experi- ence, I know what is expected. I won't have to learn the job. Board members need to be atten- tive to the concerns of the community. Two-way communication is vital. I'm available on Facebook, Twitter, email, text, phone, and in person. I will seek out communication with community members – including students! 2. I am different from other candidates in experience, education, and motivation. EXPERIENCE: I'm an educator. I've been a teacher for more than 6 years. I hold Arizona teaching certifications in 4 areas (including special education). I graduated from an intense training program which taught effective methods when teaching children with emotional and behavioral disorders. I've presented trainings at schools in Arizona and California. Prior to teaching, I was vice-president of a small training company in Califor- nia. I managed project administration. I trained adults, in the corporate setting, LETTERS FROM PAGE 14 SEE CANDIDATES PAGE 21 in a variety of courses (Team Building, Customer Service, Computer Skills, etc.) I was on the grant-writing team. I wrote grants seeking government fund- ing to provide training to corporations desiring to become high performance workplaces. EDUCATION: I'm a life-long learn- er. I worked my way through college. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Man- agement. I earned an MA in Elemen- tary Education. I earned a certificate in Educating Students with Severe Emo- tional and Behavioral Needs (my pas- sion). I earned enough graduate cred- its to equal another Master's Degree in Special Education. I joined the Arizona School Board Association (ASBA) to further my knowledge of school board responsibilities. I attended 16 hours of training presented by ASBA. This train- ing is phenomenal yet only one sitting board member (Monica Timberlake) at- tended. Ms. Timberlake paid out of her own pocket to increase her knowledge and better serve our children and our district. This is the kind of commitment we need in school board members. MOTIVATION: I am extremely moti- vated to see this commitment through to becoming an A-rated school district. Other small districts on tight budgets make this grade. We can too. I have vol- unteered hundreds of hours advocating for children to receive appropriate edu- cational services. All children are capable of succeeding under strong leadership. That success happens in the classroom. We need teachers who are excited to come to school. They need appropriate training and enthusiastic leadership. If elected, I will be part of that successful, strong, leadership change. 3. My vision is simple. Be attentive. Be action-oriented. Be accountable. I will listen to district concerns, imple- ment plans, track progress, and revise as needed. This is an on-going process that requires frequent and clear com- munication and data collection. I will be actively involved in seeing this vi- sion become reality. 4. My plan is to change leadership. Leadership starts with the board and extends to administration. District policies are made by majority vote. As a board member, I have ONE vote. We need 3 out of 5 votes to make these crit- ical changes. We need ideas. We need debate. We need hard work. We need commitment. We need a team. We need HENSHAW, JACKSON, and TIMBERLAKE. Yesenia Jackson QES School Board 1. I plan to communicate with my constituents any way possible; in per- son, social media, email, etc. 2. I can't speak for the other candi- dates but I know I will be a perfect fit for this position. I have worked with children for many years and they have always been my top priority. I will al- ways make decisions based on the best interests of the kids and of the school district. I run the after-school program for Quartzsite Elementary School and know most of the kids and many of their families. I am excited for the op- portunity to get to know our Ehren- berg families! I will never lose sight of the goal – safe, engaging educational opportunities for ALL of our district's children. 3. My vision is for our children to have the best education available. They deserve the best. I also want to renew the community's faith in our school board's ability to lead. 4. We need to create a sustainable improvement plan for our schools. We need to act as a team. The board mem- bers, the superintendent, principals, teachers, all of us. And we need to hold ourselves accountable for setting high expectations and then implementing a plan to achieve! I am asking you to put a team in place that can accomplish these goals. Vote Henshaw, Jackson, Timberlake.
