Wheels4Hope is a "nonprofit, faith-based car do- nation program that turns donated cars into lo- cal blessings. e mission of Wheels4Hope is to provide affordable, reliable transportation to low- wage families and individuals who are referred to [them] by one of [their] partner agencies." e Masonic Home for Children's Independent Liv- ing Program assists young adults aged 18–22 con- tinue their education, build strong employment histories, and develop skills related to successful independence. Among the necessities of indepen- dence is reliable transportation, especially in areas with few public transportation resources. Wheels4Hope operates through contributions of vehicles and other donations of resources and time. Vehicles deemed as the most reliable and efficient models to drive and maintain are serviced by vol- unteers. ese vehicles are then given to candidates recommended by partner agencies such as MHCO. e recipients must purchase the vehicle and dem- onstrate they have insurance and income to main- tain the vehicle. Partner garages provide servicing and donate their time working on Wheels4Hope vehicles. Other donated vehicles are auctioned off to help generate revenue for Wheels4Hope. Jessica and Yancey are the first two MHCO recipients of Wheels4Hope vehicles. Both young ladies are employed and are continuing their edu- cation. eir cars are more than just transporta- tion. Reliable transportation symbolizes inde- pendence. Yancey and Jessica are now completely accountable for making their own arrangements; whether it is attending school, getting to work on time, or making personal appointments. e suc- cess of their own independent actions helps build their confidence and esteem. They broke the drought in a big way, raising five men: Chuck Stewart (AKA Deputy Sheriff Chuck from the Discovery Channel's "Moonshiners"), Tanner Posey, Kellen Jones, Logan How- arth, and Jimmy Morgan. — Robbinsville Lodge
