Besides Halloween, pumpkins and daylight savings time, October has become the month that we collectively recognize the breast cancer epidemic in this country. Whether you actively participate or just pause for a moment to honor a friend or loved one, October has become a time to rally. Marin has a higher than average breast cancer rate so we knew there would be stories to tell. We just never imagined our cover story would be so inspiring. Lis Fuchs lives in Mill Valley and has been battling metastatic breast cancer for twelve years. We talked to her about her fight, her support system and how she stays so positive. Fall is also a time to remodel our homes and we found kitchen remodels that challenge our traditional notions. Just like the female sommelier we spoke to in Napa. Despite the fact that women buy 94% of all the wine in the country, the role of sommelier has traditionally been one for guys in black suits. You'll find these stories in this issue along with a few others to help you be healthier, happier and more confident this season.
