CLASS REUNIONS CLASS REUNIONS Shelby High Class Reunion of 1964 The Shelby High Class Reunion of 1964 will be held Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11, 2014. The Class of '64 will meet on Friday at 4:30pm at Alston Bridges' BBQ for a dutch treat dinner then fellowship later at Tom McCoy's Barn. On Saturday, October 11, the class will meet at the LeGrand Center for fellowship, dinner and dancing. Cleveland County Memorial Library, Shelby Phil Weathers, author of a book about the Beatles will be the presenter at this Thursday's Garden Gate Program at Cleveland County Memorial Library from 12:15-12:45. He will share interesting stories about the Beatles and the music of the 60's and 70's. The public is invited. The Garden Gate on October 16 and November 20 will feature music and stories by Georgiana Wright. On November 6, Ron McCollum, Outreach Coordinator with the Foothills Farmer's Market will share information about Local Foods and big plans for the Market in our community. Garden Gate Programs are presented at the library every fi rst and third Thursday from 12:15 to 12:45. Bag lunches are welcome and beverages are served. Cliffside Day Cliffside Day: October 11. Sunday, October 12, 3:00pm - Dr. Melinda Ratchford a North Carolina Humanities Council Scholar will be presenting the Titanic, the Ship of Dreams. She will give a presentation on true facts about the Titanic, and the Carolina connections. She has studied the Titanic for over 50 years, and is a Professor at Belmont Abbey. Everyone that has heard Dr. Ratchford walks away with a better understanding of what actually happened on the Titanic. She is a graduate of Appalachian State University and UNC at Greensboro, and has a Doctorate degree from UNC Chapel Hill.
