Propst took over leadership of the club from Ray Hurley, Executive Director who retired September 30, after thirty-two years of service. Propst is a native of Cleveland County and a graduate of Burns High School. While attending Appalachian State University, he met his wife Stephanie and they have been married 18 years. They have two boys: Zachary who is eight years old and Elijah who is five years old. Joshua has been working with Boys & Girls Clubs for more than 15 years and with youth in general for more than 20 years. He holds a Masters of Human Resource Development degree from Clemson University and a Bachelors of Recreation Management degree from Appalachian State University. Prior to his work with Boys & Girls Clubs, Joshua worked in Christian and secular camps conducting leadership development and teamwork initiatives through activities such as ropes courses, rock climbing, canoeing, spelunking, and snow skiing. For the past six years, Stephanie has been a stay-at-home mom. Prior to that she worked in banking as a Trust Officer. In total, she has more than 11 years of profes- sional banking experience. Zachary and Elijah are excellent students, love the outdoors and enjoy Legos, riding bikes, and playing video games. The entire fam- ily enjoys hiking, camping, boating, and pretty much anything outdoors. The Propsts are also very involved in their church. Joshua serves as a song leader, bible class teacher, and Missions Deacon; Stephanie serves as a bible class teacher and assists with special projects. Together they have been on mission trips to Russia, Haiti, and Honduras. Joshua is involved in Rotary Club and served on the Jefferson County, TN Health Council. Joshua and Stephanie are excited to be moving to Cleveland County and becoming involved in their new community. Joshua Propst Named New Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland County On Saturday, October 4th the town of Belwood held the inaugural "2014 Belwood Run For Hunger", to benefit the The Lord Provides Soup Kitchen. The soup kitchen started five months ago and was the idea of Alicia Garren. It provides meals on the fourth Saturday of every month. Meals are also delivered to shut-ins and seniors who are unable to attend. All the proceeds from the 5K race go directly to the kitchen. Shelia Goodman, a volunteer at the soup kitchen and avid runner, was in charge of the race. The race was won by Benton Johnson of Hickory in the time of 18 minutes, 47 seconds. There were 146 runners that participated. Belwood Mayor, Debbie Hoyle was very pleased with the turnout and its success guaran- tees the "Belwood Run For Hunger" will become an annual event. Tickets were sold for a chance to win the tires at the Center's inaugural AutoBazaar this past Saturday, Oct. 4th. One of Dale Earnhardt Jr's. Daytona victory tires was one of the most sought after items. The event also included an auto show, vendors, and a Buddy Holly tribute artist. –M. A.
