T
he Board of Advisors has engaged the professional services of Treanor
Architects, based in Lawrence, Kansas, to design our new Chapter House.
The aim is a high-quality facility that will provide a safe and attractive home for
generations of Tekes. In all areas, the architect has been instructed to address
mandatory building and fire code requirements. In addition, we have placed a
special emphasis on the use of practical and durable building materials, finishes,
and fixtures to withstand heavy use over a number of years.
We plan to build a 19,000-square-foot facility that meets the ever-changing
needs of today's students. This state-of-the-art facility will sleep 50 men and
is designed for future expansion. The architect has developed an estimate for
this project totaling $3.9 million. The fundraising goal for the Pride in Our
Past, Securing Our Future campaign is $1 million. Based on our financial
calculations through a professional pro forma, we have concluded that the
facility can support debt service of $2.3 million.
Beyond the construction of the new house, the Board of Advisors is committed
to a financial and managerial plan to ensure the Chapter's viability and
vitality going forward. The plans highlighted in this brochure help illustrate
and explain the intent to create a Chapter House that expands and enhances
the educational and personal experiences offered by membership in TKE.
