THE ORACLE A L P H A - O M I C R O N Z E TA O F L A M B D A C H I A L P H A AT I N D I A N A U N I V E R S I T Y / FA L L 2 0 1 4 I t was another busy year for Alpha-Omicron as the Chapter had a successful Little 500 team, we hit 140 members on campus after two very strong recruitment classes, and are in the process of another major remodel of the Chapter House. But more importantly, our membership grade point average, at 3.3, is now 4th on campus out of 32 fraternities! We also added a few more members to the House Corporation, so please help me welcome Kelly McClarnon '87, Scott Behrens '84, Scott Fuson '82, and John Edgeworth '80. In this edition of The Oracle you will get a chance to meet all the board members on pages 2 and 3. THANK YOU, ALUMNI, FOR SUPPORTING CHAPTER HOUSE UPDATES To keep AO competitive on campus we have spent the the last two summers investing in the Chapter House with our total spend just over $200,000. This is the most extensive remodel that has been done since the 1990s renovation. The membership approached us last year for more study/quiet areas. So we will be turning our formal room, which was used infrequently, into a study/conference room. We are also taking our library and turning that into a billiards room thanks to the donations of several alumni who answered our call on Facebook and through our solicitation letter . KEEP UP WITH CHAPTER EVENTS ON FACEBOOK If you have not done this yet, like our page on Facebook by searching Lambda Chi Alpha – Indiana University (Alpha Omicron). You will be kept abreast of all the latest news on the Chapter. We now have members of the House Corporation looking at the long-term future of the Chapter and where we invest money that makes the most sense. SAVE THE DATE FOR HOMECOMING Homecoming is October 18 and we will be utilizing Kel Preston '82 again this year to organize the networking event at Grant Street Inn on Saturday. All alumni are encouraged to attend a meet-and-greet with the junior and Sidewalk art for the Little 500. CHAPTER HOUSE REMODEL CONTINUES senior members of the Chapter as we help to mentor and network them with contacts in their majors. Always a great event to meet the quality undergraduates. We will be sending an e-mail with more details for that weekend in the next few weeks. I am very proud to witness how these members have improved our standing with the national fraternity and Indiana University over my past three years of involvement at AO. I encourage everyone to stop by the Chapter House during Homecoming or any time you are in Bloomington and meet these fantastic gentlemen.
