G reetings from Summit Street! The House Corporation is busy working hard to make the Chapter house sparkle in anticipation of our returning Tau collegians. Cleaning and polishing aside, our sole new project this summer was an internet overhaul and upgrade. With 50+ users living at 305 S. Summit Street (not to mention the occasional guest), we recognized that our current system was not up for the constant load and usage. The women are students first and Delta Gammas a very close second. Fast and reliable internet service is a must in today's academic world! There are several young alumnae living in the Iowa City area. Earlier this summer, a few of them approached me to form an alumnae group. I had been a member of the Denver Evening Alumnae Group for years prior to moving to Iowa City. So on August 8, an enthusiastic group of recent Tau graduates gathered at my house for an informal and organizational meeting. The group plans to reach out to other local Delta Gammas to join in planned activities. I love that these young women want to keep their DG connections going! As I always tell the collegians: Your time at Iowa is the shortest time in being a Delta Gamma. It only gets better. No matter how many years go by, how many miles separate us, or how much things change, we will always have a home in Delta Gamma. This summer, a group of alumnae decided to rekindle their friendships in DG by hosting Tau Summer Splash events in Chicago and Des Moines. These small gatherings served as a great opportunity to reflect on experiences in Delta Gamma—both shared and individual. Alumnae who attended the events agreed that this was an excellent, and fun, opportunity to get together with their Tau sisters. "It was fun to open the door and see a DG pledge sister standing there with a huge smile on her face," Christy Street Johnson '76 said. "We hadn't seen each other in nearly 30 years. There were no words, just tears and a big, long, and warm hug." Suzanne Chaffee Swanson '78 stated, "We spent a lot of time talking about our great love for DG—especially Tau Chapter and how we made such great friends during our time there." The Tau Summer Splash event held in Des Moines was hosted by Neala Fredrickson Ellingson '78, Christy, and Jessi McMillen '01. The event in Chicago was hosted by Kathy Hayes Brandtner '79, Charlene Breen Needles '79, Mary Gates Schur '79, and Jennifer Christian Haidu '80. Neala said, "We had such a great time meeting new sisters, remembering our college days, sharing laughs, and talking about Tau's future! I love my DG sisters!" SUMMER SPLASH
