The event celebrates the county's rich agricultural heritage and provides a family-friendly entertainment venue. The fair kicks off Friday at 3 p.m. and runs through Sept. 14. The fair will feature family fun, games, food, exhibits, fair rides, entertainment and a talent competition. The theme for this year's is "Country Pride, County Wide." Tickets are $15 Monday through Thursday and the price includes admission, unlimited rides and entertainment. Weekend ticket prices are $6 for admission with ride tickets and wristbands available separately. Children under 2 are admitted free. Fair hours are 5 – 11 p.m. Monday through Friday; 1 – 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 – 10 p.m. on Sunday. Events happening all week include a one-ring circus; interactive petting farm; Farmer for the Day exhibit; camel and pony rides; "Goodness Grows" in North Carolina contest; racing pigs and a wide range of acts performing on the entertainment stage. "We encourage everyone to come out to this year's fair and spend some time in the Agri-Expo Center where we will have wonderful exhibits promoting our community and our agricultural assets," said Lisa Childers, Cumberland County Cooperative Extension Director. Mountain Dr. co.cumberland.nc.us Cumberland County Fair Sept. 5-14 Beekeeping Classes Begin Sept. 25 Cumberland County Cooperative Extension will offer a Beginning Beekeeping Course starting Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. The course will cover the basic information necessary to get started in beekeeping and will prepare students for the Practical Beekeeping course that will be taught in the spring of 2015. The beginning course will be held every Thursday evening for six weeks and will take place at the Cooperative Extension office at 301 E. Mountain Drive. Wright Brothers Book Discussion Sept. 9 The Cumberland County Public Library and Information Center will host author Elliot Engel Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Pate Room at Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane. Engel will discuss his book "Brothers, Not Twins: Separating Orville and Wilbur Wright." Tickets are $10 for the public, $5 for Friends of the Library and $2 for students.
