CPE is professional education for ministry, during which each intern provided a minimum of 300 hours of service while engaged in a minimum 100 hours of instruction. The Commencement Ceremony was held at Saint Luke's Chapel, across from RRHS. The Commencement, which comprised testimonials from the students on their experiences throughout the summer, was held to celebrate and express gratitude to all of the interns for the valuable contributions they made to RRHS. Commencement was open to community members, employees of Rutherford Regional, and others who felt touched by the special work the interns took part in during the CPE program. The Commencement Ceremony began with the trumpet solo, "What a Fellowship," played by Jarret Fite, a talented musician and summer CPE program intern. An introductory welcome statement and scripture reading followed the solo, by Heidi Eickstadt and Alfred Blount, also CPE interns. During the testimonial speeches, refl ections took place and lessons learned were shared. Alfred Blount noted during his speech that he was "blessed through this experience", while Heidi Eickstadt used her musical talents to refl ect on the summer by singing "River," by Garth Brooks. The ceremony concluded by presentation of certifi cates to each intern by Don Ledbetter, CPE Instructor, and Lynn Ross, director of Education. Although each intern had a different experience, they all came together to write a special thank you, which was placed in the printed program. It read, "We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the people of Rutherford Regional Medical Center for the kind and welcoming embrace into this community of care. We have been provided with the chance to serve alongside each of you as you care for the wonderful people of Rutherford County and beyond. We would especially like to thank the Consultation Group for their work with us, as well as all those persons who have shared with us during seminars. A special thank you to Dr. McGriff for always taking the time to share with us what it means to care for people. We also thank the cafeteria staff for their friendly service and kindness towards us. Thank you to Lynn Ross for her support to the CPE program." This year's summer CPE interns included Alfred Blount, Heidi Eickstadt, Jerret Fite, Juan Carlos Unda Azua, and Kyle Martindale. Rutherford Regional Health System greatly values these individuals, their contributions to this organization and the lives they touched during their summer program.
