OUR FIRST 100 YEARS S ince our founding in 1915, Chi Zeta has initiated more than 2,000 brothers into Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Our exceptional brotherhood has grown in strength and established itself as an unwavering part of arguably the strongest Greek system in the country at the University of Illinois. As alumni, we can trace many of our best memories to U of I and to our fraternity experience. Through Lambda Chi we learned the importance of integrity, leadership, intellect, and high moral character—only the beginning of a long list of traits gained through our fraternity experience that have made us the men we are today. Our chapter house at 209 East Armory has been the focus of undergraduate life for Chi Zeta since 1927. It was built for a capacity of 32 men and one guest room at a cost of approximately $85,000. In 1957, the frame house just to the south was purchased to retain a competitive size. The "annex" was always a temporary solution, and in 1977 groundbreaking on a new addition began. For our brothers, the house has been a home away from home, a treasure chest of memories, and a symbol of our first 100 years. However, if we wish for Chi Zeta to continue its strong presence at Illinois, we must ensure that we are providing a safe, modern, and competitive facility. Now is the appropriate time to secure our future. Our Next 100 Years: Building the Future for Chi Zeta is designed with input from the university, alumni association, undergraduates, the architectural firm Treanor & Associates, professional fundraising guidance, and the feedback of alumni from seven decades. Cemented by the rich history, traditions and values of Chi Zeta, but acutely focused on making an impact on our young men, this campaign will have an influence on our fraternity for years to come. You are invited to join us as we open the chapter on the next 100 years. 1925 1930s 1960s Current
