VICTORIOUS I
Fayetteville earned top honors as one of the National Civic League’s All-America Cities.
t seems fitting that the “All-American City” should get the All-America City award, and for the third time Fayetteville brought the honor home this year. Judges for the award were impressed with the city’s revitalization efforts and with a 90-second online video which
highlights the transformation from the negative “Fayettenam” to the positive “FayetteNOW”. And it couldn’t have hurt that our city’s team at the award conference in Kansas City, Mo. were accompanied by the 82nd Airborne All-American Chorus. Each year the National Civic League recognizes ten communities for outstanding
civic accomplishments. Winning cities must demonstrate innovation, inclusiveness, civic engagement, and cross-sector collaboration by describing successful efforts to address pressing local challenges. The All-America City designation has helped communities win grants and new resources and attract new employers. An official celebration of the All-America City win will take place Friday, July 1 at 6 p.m. in Festival Park at the corner of Rowan and Ray Streets. The N.C. Symphony and other musical acts will perform and there will be fireworks and complimentary apple pie and ice cream. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic dinners.
