An online guest reg- istry is available at www. harrelsonfuneralhome. com ©Community First Media Community First Media It dawned on me the other day that we spend an enormous amount of time waiting. If you are like me, it doesn't matter how many people are in line at the store, I seem to always pick the slowest one. I am sure there has been some scientifi c study done that proves that we have waited more than half of our lives for something to happen. The most important question to ask is how we accept the "waiting times" in our lives? Patience in the midst of a delay or a time of pain shows maturity and faith. Some of the most patient people I know have been farmers. They work very hard to prepare the ground and planting the seed, but then after the work is fi nished the waiting begins to commence. During the wait, the fear of drought, hail storms, fl oods and pests must haunt them. Then with the cooperation of Mother Nature, they are able to see the fruit of their labor. I have seen some farmers lose their entire crop from adverse weather and the next planting season they are back in the fi eld again just as if it never happened. A farmer told me, "You have to just put the losses behind you and look forward to the next crop." Life is all about waiting and not letting the setbacks, losses and delays in life discourage us from living a full life. A famous speaker once said, "Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come." When we get in the "slow line" of life what we do in the time of testing will determine future blessings. Patience is truly a virtue.
