Is she a parent herself? — Sherry Jones, Glen Burnie, Md. A : Indeed she is. The "Reba" alum — also a star of the ABC Family sitcom "Baby Daddy" — has a son who was born to her and her husband in 2005. Q : Several friends and I were surprised by the exit of Jeanne Tripplehorn from "Crimi- nal Minds" after such a short tenure on the program. Why did she leave? — Maureen Gates, Sunnyvale, Calif. A : The actress' contract for the CBS crime drama was up, and her character Alex Blake's departure reportedly was a mutual decision. That's not hard to believe, given the movie career Tripplehorn also main- tains. HBO's "Big Love" had shorter seasons, so she still was available for film work during the run of that series. A season of "Criminal Minds" takes the better part of a year to shoot, so it limited her opportunities for other jobs. Q : After a few episodes and a new lead actor, why does "Death in Paradise" always go off PBS? — Eleanor Tesner, Camp- bell, Ohio A : The fact that each of its three seasons so far has only had eight episodes undoubtedly has a lot to do with it. It also should ne noted that the series is not a full-network program for PBS, and local affiliates opt to show it on their own, so that's an element of the scheduling as well. The good news is that the se- riocomic mystery has been renewed for a Season 4 by British parent net- work BBC One, so it should resume here, too. Q : I was sad to hear about the recent death of Lee Chamberlin, who was one of the original cast members of "The Electric Company." What else can you tell me about her? — Peter Lebow, Milwaukee A : The New York native died on May 25, and one of her last major projects was a one-woman stage reading in Ithaca, N.Y., in 2010. From the 1970s through the early 2000s, she was quite active in television, working opposite James Earl Jones in both "Roots: The Next Generation" and the series "Paris." Among the many other shows on which Chamberlin appeared were "All My Children," "Lou Grant," "The White Shadow," "What's Hap- pening!!," "Diff'rent Strokes," "NYPD Blue," "Diagnosis Murder," "Judging Amy" and "Touched by an Angel." Chamberlin also did considerable stage work, also partnering with Jones in a 1974 Shakespeare in the Park staging of "King Lear."
