Koehn '11 James Monson '12 Homecoming 2013: One to Remember W hile the KU football team turned in a miserable performance at their Homecoming game, Kansas DU posted an impressive win with a tremendous Homecoming event at the Chapter House on a gorgeous Saturday. It was a strong team effort! Here are a few highlights of our efforts and successes: • By all estimates, more than 200 alumni visited the Chapter House throughout the day, including alumni from the '50s through the '00s; brothers from the early '80s, early '90s, and the '00s had particularly strong showings. • Visitors were treated to brunch in the morning and a delicious post-game meal of burgers, dogs, and chicken complete with ample sides and dessert prepared by the DU chef. • A third-party caterer served drinks via a cash bar, and a DJ provided tunes. • Everyone seemed to have a great time! I observed lots of handshakes, laughter, and hugs. I owe a huge thanks to Dan Keating '08 for organizing the splendid event! A special thanks to Housemother Judy Carpenter, chef Nathan and his assistant, Kim, Chapter President Patrick Smith '15, House Managers Spencer Green '16 and Hal McCoy '15, Rod Barleen '97, and Eric Gustavson '87 for their part in making a special day. And thanks to the rest of you for stopping by, wishing us well, and being supportive of our efforts. We're on a mission to make friends, and I think we made lots of friends at the event. It was another good day to be a Kansas DU!
