9 W e are excited to present the 2014 spring edition of The Katydid! This edition highlights a small portion of this semester's achievements and activities. This semester sure has been an exciting one, and we are pleased to share with you what Kappa Delta has been up to in the past months. Over $30,000 Raised for CAPS Our Chapter has been exceptional in our philanthropic efforts this semester. Our annual Shamrock Run was March 15 and it was an absolute success this year. We raised over $30,000 to benefit Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) and Prevent Child Abuse of America. VP-Community Service Megan Morgan '11 said, "With high attendance and great weather, Shamrock Run was a success and we are very excited to give the money we raised to CAPS." Not only do we have high involvement with CAPS, we also have had many events with Girl Scouts in which we encourage the girls to "Dream Big!" New Academic Program Implemented Academics is one of our main goals as a Chapter and we strive to maintain an incredible GPA. Our current Chapter GPA is a 3.29. As academic excellence chairman, J.E. Nechtman '11 has established a new incentive to have the upmost academic success. The members on bad academic standing now have the opportunity to be on good standing with a 3.0 GPA at midterm. "This program is a great incentive to promote hard work and has allowed 12 members to be on good standing as of current midterm grades," J.E. said. Welcome, New Members This semester has been such a positive experience for our Chapter. We initiated 21 new members to our Chapter at the end of the fall semester and have six spring initiates. We are so excited to have these incredible women in our sorority and we welcome them with open arms. I hope that you enjoy reading about our recent highlights as a Chapter. Being a KD is such a rewarding experience and we appreciate your support in our Chapter!
