Cross Creek Mall Anna Finch Anna, a true Fayetteville native born and raised, was the past president of the board of directors of the Autism Society of Cumberland and currently serves as the vice president. Q: What is something that people might not realize about your work for autism? I am one of several volunteers for the Autism Society of Cumberland County who help support the organization and its two staff members. When our son Nicholas was diagnosed with autism in 1993, I became involved; For me it was a “no-brainer” and just natural to begin volunteering for a cause that was dear to my heart. I truly believe that it’s not what happens to you in your life, but what you do about it that’s important. Q: A fun fact that readers might not know about you? I am a music aficionado. Music is one of my passions and I have a diverse list of styles of music and artists I enjoy.... from Merle Haggard to Luciano Pavarotti to Lady Gaga. Gloria Williams “...Do yourself a favor and give it a try... You will not be disappointed ” Gloria serves as the Special Projects Coordinator at the CARE Clinic and cherishes the many volunteers she has worked with over the past 10 years. She made Fayetteville her home upon her husband’s military retirement in 1986. Q: A fun fact that readers might not know about you? I love to go to antique and thrift shops to see what unique items I can find. I got interested in this hobby years ago when I was visiting my home state of Maine and bought my first Homer Laughlin dish for $5. I still enjoy collecting them and can easily spot his pieces. Q: After a long week at work, how do you unwind on the weekend? I enjoy spending time with Ed, my husband of 40 years. We usually just do things together and have lunch or sometimes take a drive down to the coast. Bo Thorp Bo is the Artistic Director of the Cape Fear Regional theater andhas lived in Fayetteville for 51 years. On her involvement in CFRT: ”I’m the bottom line; the buck stops here. It’s a mirage, like the Wizard, behind the curtain are very few people, it’s the magic of theater and the people who work for you for our audience.” www.Ansteads.com 910.864.5705 “Not everyone gets the opportunity to find what they want to do and to pursue it.
