May 7, 2014 www.DesertMessenger.com 17 QPD Arrest Report The following arrests were made by Quartzsite Police Department April 9 - 29, 2014 4/9: Charlene Boren, age 39, from Quartzsite was cited and re- leased for Driving with a Suspend- ed License. 4/10: Michael Daugherty, age 47, from Quartzsite was cited and released for Shoplifting. 4/11: Richard Behmetuik, age 58, from Quartzsite was cited and released for Shoplifting. 4/11: Alfred Covey, age 48, from Quartzsite was arrested and booked into jail for Criminal Damage and Disorderly Conduct. 4/13: Charles Smith, age 21, from Quartzsite was arrested and booked into jail for 3 counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Re- sisting Arrest. 4/13: Ashley Hopkins, age 22, from Quartzsite was cited via long- form for 3 counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 4/18: Rigoberto Nunez, age 42, from Quartzsite was cited and re- leased for Mandatory Insurance Suspension. 4/19: Cynthia Cordova, age 29, from Quartzsite was arrested and booked into jail for an Active War- rant out of Quartzsite Magistrate Court. 4/21: Jeremy Kimberlin, age 19, from Quartzsite was cited and re- leased for Criminal Littering. 4/21: Glenna Falbush, age 53, from Quartzsite was arrested and booked into jail for an Active War- rant out of Quartzsite Magistrate Court for Failure to Pay Fines. 4/21: David Downes, age 56, from Quartzsite was arrested and booked into jail for an Active Warrant out of Quartzsite Magistrate Court for Failure to Pay Fines. 4/21: Miracle Kline, age 27, from Quartzsite was cited and released for Criminal Speed. 4/24: Reginald Curry, age 34, from Los Angeles was arrested and booked into jail for an Active War- rant out of Country Meadows Jus- tice Court for Failure to Appear. 4/24: Dennis Baragar, age 57, from Quartzsite was cited and re- leased for Attempted Possession of Marijuana. 4/24: Rosa Celaya, age 47, from Quartzsite was cited and released for Attempted Possession of Mari- juana. 4/28: Angel Tinoco, age 24, from Quartzsite was arrested and booked into jail for Possession of Danger- ous Drugs. 4/29: William Ellinger, age 40, from Maricopa was cited and re- leased for Mandatory Insurance Suspension. 4/29: Tommy Adcock, age 69, from Salome was cited and released for Mandatory Insurance Suspension. All persons included in this report are innocent of crimes until proven guilty in a court of law. By Jane Finley (Gypsy Jane) writer * artist * teacher * traveler WHY I DON'T MAKE PLANS I felt I fi t right in here on the Hum- boldt State campus, in Arcata, Cali- fornia -- at least until I looked in the mirror and noticed the gray streak in my hair, which I have learned to think of as platinum blonde. I also noticed a spot on the front of my turtleneck shirt: the emblem of the senior citizen. But I don't feel like a senior, and there are ac- tually students who talk to me as if I'm an equal and not at least twice their age; no ageism here. And I am not the oldest person on campus. There's lots of gray hair around here. I love it here on the campus. Actu- ally, I fi gure I could pretty much live right on campus and never leave. There is computer access from 7:30 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., a great food court, and bath- rooms. Now what else could one need? But then, sleeping in the parking lot is probably not allowed; I haven't tried it. The town of Arcata has a wonder- ful feel to it. The people are extremely polite and helpful. Just this morning a young guy at the college information desk made a phone call to fi nd out some information for me. "There's a young lady here," he said into the phone, and I smiled, although I am only young at heart and have never claimed to be a lady (nor wanted to be). I don't think "ladies" can sit on the fl oor and have a beer. I am proud to be a "woman" though. The cashier at the Food Court mistook me for a student the fi rst of three times I went through the line and gave me the student discount --probably because of my backpack. The next time, she asked, "Are you a student?" "A student of life," I replied, and I got charged more.
