Awards will be granted twice in each category: an Editors' Choice which is voted upon at PGI-USA's spring editor day and a Buyers' choice, which is chosen by votes culminated on the JCK show floor. A Best in Show award is presented to the design which receives the highest combination of votes in both classes. Winners will be announced on June 1, 2014. Manufacturers who are passionate about working in platinum as, for its unique qualities, platinum is a favorite of many designers. There are a few trends that are expected to be prevalent in platinum jewelry this year. Men's jewelry is carving out a bigger niche for itself as platinum bracelets, cufflinks and rings are surging in popularity- and design caliber. Edging, engraving and diamonds and gemstones are adorning these mens' staples for styles to fit all tastes. For women, chunky bands are all the rage. As a symbol of marriage, an engagement ring or just an overall fashion piece, designers are moving towards thicker, more intricate platinum bands to create big, everlasting looks. More trends are expected to emerge from the competition and provide an inkling of what platinum will look like at retail. First time PGI participant Dora International walked away with the 2013 Buyers' Choice Award for the Platinum Wedding Band category.
