18 | May/June • 2014 O ur soldiers have vari- ous demands placed on them as they train to deploy, fight and win our nation's wars. at pres- sure, combined with other life is- sues creates a level of stress that can, at times, get the best of even the most seasoned soldiers. Re- siliency gives soldiers the cop- ing skills to handle such demands so they don't become overwhelmed and find unhealthy ways to "take the edge off." Chaplains are the only resiliency agents outside of a soldier's chain of command that are in operation 24/7 to address the problems and stress that oen arise in their lives. Whether it is by leading worship in one of the many religious services on post, leading the Helping Hand program, volunteering in the food pantry or being the on-call chaplain, we are engaged with troops and their families. We are committed to helping them sort their life issues in a safe and confidential manner. Here at Fort Bragg, the pace is fast, so the chaplains here have to be agile and swi to meet the growing spiritual needs of the soldiers we serve. One of the unique ways we do this is by offering an alternative ministry on Friday nights: e Crossroads Coffeehouse. In operation since 1999, Crossroads has become a place where people gather for food, fellowship and fun every Friday night in a positive and upliing environment. e leadership team and I fight to make sure we greet every soldier, especially those that reside in the barracks. We let them know that this ministry exists for them to relax and unwind. At Crossroads, soldiers can enjoy a full menu of coffee beverages and participate in a Bible study lesson to help them see where their story fits within God's redeeming plan for their lives. Soldiers of all stripes can be seen chatting about their work over a latte, hanging out in the game room, listening to live acoustic guitar and of course, learning more about the word of our Lord and Savior. Everything is free, so it fits perfectly within a young soldier's budget. So, if on a Friday night you find yourself craving something more than your usual hangout can offer, come on by the Crossroads from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., on the corner of Ardennes and Bastogne in the historic Division Me- morial Chapel building. You will not leave hungry or thirsty, either physically or spiritually. CV By ChaPLaIn BrITTOn PrICE faith Crossroads Coffeehouse using strong joe to help build stronger G.I.
