Bobbie Carey '13, Josh Vertes '13, and Michael Bradley '13 took it upon them- selves to transform old storage closets into fan- tastic study lounges. Founders' Day weekend is currently the climax of Michigan Alpha's winter semester. Not only was it a celebration of our fraternity's founding, but it was also our parents' weekend. During the daytime on Saturday, February 22, one of the University's biggest IFC and philanthropic events was held, the Winterfest Broomball Tour- nament. After a long day filled with hard-fought matches, Michigan Alpha emerged victorious! The highlight of the day was Alfredo Holguin '11, fresh off back surgery, clinching the semifi- nal win with a goal in the shootout. Only after all that excitement did the real Found- ers' Day festivities begin. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Housing Corporation members Brian May '99 and Pat Sierawksi '07, along with un- dergraduate Weston Kujacznski '12, the events for the evening were flawless. Alumni ranging from the 1950s to the new millennium appeared and shared stories during cocktails at the chapter house then at a fabulous dinner that was capped off by TED-talk-style speeches by Jack Gray '07, David Frayne '89, Gino Roncelli '07, and parent Daniel Labes. The following morning there was a viewing of the UM basketball game versus Michi- gan State and a group of students, alumni, and par- ents also attended the game. An amazing weekend was capped with another win. The undergraduates were very happy for all of the alumni and parents who could attend Founders' Day, we hope for even more alumni engagement for the future. As the year winds down, we can all be proud of our accomplishments, but we cannot rest on them. The transition from the old chapter house is complete, and the 630 Oxford generation of Mi- chgan Alpha is only gathering momentum in all aspects of student and fraternity life. I encourage all alumni to visit to see where Phi Psi at Michigan stands today.
