RHO CHAPTER INCREASES CAMPUS VISIBILITY, INVOLVEMENT S ince returning to school, the women of Rho Chapter have already been up to great things. Scholarship, philanthropy, and sisterhood are always priorities for our members and in the past few months we have made great progress in all of these areas. Rho Continues to Raise Scholarship Goals Last semester we earned a 3.2 GPA, higher than the all-women's aver- age and all-Greek average. We are proud of our accomplishments and raise our goals every semester. Chapter members are still required to complete weekly study hours to help us raise our GPA. Philanthropy and Community Service The Big Event for Dance Marathon 20 was held the first week in February. The 24-hour dance event organized by University of Iowa students raises money for children with cancer. Rho Chapter had two wonderful morale captains representing us this year, Sam Fleps '10 and Sterling Bokos '10. Together they helped get our women in- volved and, out of all the sororities on campus, we had the highest percentage of participants! We raised more than $35,000 for the kids. Rho Chapter also had a few brave sisters cut off their hair to donate to Locks of Love during the event. We are very proud of this ac- complishment and we hope to play a big part in the upcoming Dance Marathon 21. Rho is also very excited about what the rest of the semester holds. The annual Crescent Classic 3 point shoot-out philanthropy event will be held on April 23. Philanthropy Chairman Leslie Eddy '12 has been working hard on some new additions to make the event even more successful at raising money for Girls on the Run. Spring Events and Socials Iowa City better look out because on April 5 all the Gamma Phi moms will be coming to town for Mom's Day. We will be having a brunch at the house this year. It will be a wonderful opportunity for the moms to see our beautiful home and for everyone to spend some time together. (Continued on page 4)
