The Lucas Oil Desert Storm Rally, based out of Blythe, Calif., offers stage rally racing on a challenging and competitive course of non-paved roads covering just over 120 miles includ- ing night stages on Friday. A "special stage" at the I-10 Speedway on Satur- day evening will give spectators the chance to bring the family, meet the teams and enjoy some great racing, ac- cording to Blythe fi refi ghter and track promoter Ronnie Hassler. "The race fans are looking forward to again seeing again the rally cars in action," said Denise McMahon, the rally's organizer. "This year we are looking forward to having the night Desert Storm Rally brings back night stages at I-10 Speedway April 4-5 stages happening as well as a new format at the Speedway which will include a dirt fi eld." The rally weekend begins late after- noon on Friday with a spaghetti dinner fundraiser hosted by the Blythe Fire Department and a "parc exposé"—an open exhibition of the competitors cars—at the fi re department at 201 N. Commercial Street in Blythe. The fi rst car will start the evening stages of Day 1 about 6:30 p.m. from the fi rehouse. Teams will run four stages, including two turn-arounds. Competition begins bright and early on Saturday, starting from the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway.
