WELCoME To THE SISTERHood We jumped into the spring semester by initiating 49 baby hooties. Kappa Alpha was excited to share what it means to be a Chi Omega with all of our new members. Our newly initiated members were thrown a banquet to celebrate their new status in Chi Omega. Throughout the process it was great to see support from the collegiate members and families. STRIvING foR ACHIEvEMENT Our Chapter achieved a 3.27 GPA during the fall semester. We surpassed the all-Greek, all- university, as well as the all-women's average GPA. Kappa Alpha is cracking down and focusing more on academic excellence this spring. We will host our annual scholarship dinner where members with a 4.0 GPA for the previous semester will be awarded a check and a certificate. They will also be recognized in front of our entire Chapter and will sit at the head table during Chapter dinner. We are optimistic about what our hard work and diligent studying will bring us this term. PHILANTHRoPIC WAyS Fall was a great semester in support of Make- A-Wish. Kappa Alpha hosted our annual Candy Cane Lane on McCain philanthropy in December. We paired up with Alpha Tau Omega to help us get ready for the big night, baking cookies and decorating our beautiful house with Christmas lights and candy canes. We had a successful turnout and made a lot of great memories, ultimately granting a child's wish through the funds we raised. Last year our donation was used to grant a little boy's wish to go to Disney World. We recently received news that he is now cancer free! Kappa Alpha sent a card to congratulate him and his family. Other events include Chi O Casino night in February and a new golf tournament on April 27, on which our new philanthropy chairman is hard at work. UPCoMING EvENTS We look forward to participating in Derby Days this spring and possibly celebrating another first-place win. We are also eager for Mom's Weekend, which will be April 12. And we are most excited to plan and partake in our 100th anniversary on campus. Thank you to all the alumnae who strive to make Kappa Alpha a strong Chapter. We would not thrive if it were not for your support and dedication. Please feel free to drop by our Chapter House anytime for a visit. Chi Omega really is a wonderful place and I could not be happier to serve such an enthusiastic group of women. Lovingly yours in Chi Omega, Whitney Root '12 Chapter President (913) 980-2353 whitne1@ksu.edu Members gathered at the initiation banquet to welcome our newly initiated members. Here we celebrated Chase, a little boy we helped by raising funds through our fall philanthropy. He is now cancer free! BId dAy 2013
