I t is my honor and privilege to announce to you the next step in our commitment to excellence at Kappa Chapter. Over the last year a number of dedicated alumni and BOD members have been working diligently to position us for the future. Today, we proudly announce The Centennial Campaign for Kappa: Honoring Our Past, Securing Our Future. You recently received a brochure that outlined our vision for Chi Phi at the University of Wisconsin. It is a bold plan and large undertaking, but one that is necessary for the vitality and success of our Chapter. We must work to provide a safe, livable, and modern Chapter House to attract and retain the best and brightest students at the university. Our Chapter has been working at a disadvantage on the UW campus while other living groups and university housing have surpassed what we offer our members. Despite this, we have thrived. Recent accomplishments include our rechartering last September, recruitment of an active Chapter totaling more than 45 men, building our reputation among the UW community and maintaining positive relations with other Greek organizations. With an active membership so clearly dedicated to excellence, we have a responsibility to provide a safe and sound structure for them to live in and thrive during their years as undergraduates. Furthermore, many of us have fond memories of living in the Chapter House. To fulfill this vision, a major investment is needed, and the time is now. Through a careful evaluation of the capability of our alumni and the efforts of our partners and alumni in this endeavor, we have set a goal of raising $1.2 million to address safety issues concerning the infrastructure of the house, as well as to create living quarters suitable for today's modern student. Renovations will include installing an integrated and monitored smoke, emergency lighting, and fire sprinkler system on all four floors of the building, high-speed Internet connections, updating 20 sleeping rooms, and remodeling our lower-level kitchen. The average alumni participation rate among recent Greek Chapter campaigns is 23%. We must resolve to match or exceed this if we are to ensure excellence for the next 50 years. We must challenge each other to support this campaign and reconnect to our Fraternity and alma mater. Every contribution counts and every gift will benefit generations of men. Please contact any board member if you have questions about the campaign or want to know how to get involved. Alumni who came before us provided the opportunity to join Chi Phi, to live in the Chapter House, and to develop the enduring friendships we cherish. Now is the time to join your Brothers who have already made generous donations and ensure that the same Chi Phi experience is available for future students at the University of Wisconsin.
