PATRICK'S DAY DINNER March 17th By Lyle Browning, Instructional Specialist Sr. U of A La Paz County Cooperative Extension Offi ce Warm weather is returning to La Paz County. The time has come to prepare soils and plant warm weather vegetables and fl owers. The period when frost is probable has passed in the Parker area and cooler areas in the county should be frost free by March 1st. Fruit bearing vegetables should be planted now. The time for planting cool weather vegetables and fl owers has probably passed by now. Our area just gets too hot too quickly for the cool weather vegetables and they will probably bolt before they are usable. Soil should be tilled at least one foot deep and amended and fertilized prior to planting. Always follow manufacturer's instructions. All seed packets will explain how, where, and when to plant. Commercial fertiliz- ers will have instructions on the package. Our offi ce can provide suggested planting dates for all areas of the county and we will be happy to assist with any requested advice. Feel free to telephone us at 928-669-9843 or stop by our offi ce at 2524 Mutahar, just off Shea Road, Parker. We are always happy to see and talk with you.
