AlphA Nu's Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi at The University of Texas h Spring 2014 G reetings to all Alpha Nu Chapter alumni! The Alpha Nu Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity at The University of Texas is alive, well, and growing by leaps and bounds. Since the Chapter's re-installation in April 2009, our Chapter has steadily grown from under 40 brothers to a record 196 at present. I am so proud of all these outstanding young men who individually exceed Sigma Chi's Jordan Standard. Your House Corporation has been instrumental in helping assist the Chapter in this phenomenal growth. When the Chapter reoccupied the house at 2701 Nueces in 2008, our property was debt-free. Some of the updates to the property since 2008 include a remodel of the rear apartment building, new roof, kitchenette for apartment building, automatic gate for driveway and combination pedestrian gates, concrete flooring, remodel and expansion of ladies bathroom, total redo of dining room, plus a 75% increase in dining room area so everyone can eat together (now seats up to 200), hard-wired fire alarm system, and a redo of the sand volleyball court and basketball court resurface. These are just a few of many upgrades provided for the growing Chapter. I invite each of you to drop by the Chapter House and see for yourselves the many improvements and to also meet some of the undergraduate brothers living there. It takes a lot of time, energy, and involvement by the House Corporation to ensure that Alpha Nu Chapter has a decent place to meet, eat, socialize, and live. With a membership of close to 200, there is quite a demand to provide more affordable student housing for our brothers. The House Corporation continues to evaluate our housing situation and assess our need to stay competitive within the Greek community. Both the House Corporation and the Chapter encourage you to reach out and reconnect. Get in touch with brothers that you haven't spoken to recently. This is a great time to be a member of Sigma Chi and it is important that those fraternal bonds are strengthened. Feel free to contact me directly with any questions or comments. We need your continued interest and involvement to help keep Alpha Nu Chapter number one at The University of Texas. In Hoc Signo Vinces, John C.
