Reflecting on Development of Ohio Delta
t has been an honor serving as the house director of the Ohio
Delta Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi over the past three years. As my
tenure draws to a close, I realize that I have experienced a lot of
changes, both on a personal level and at the Chapter level. A large portion
of my work is to oversee the day-to-day activities of the now 150-man
Chapter. This has been a tremendous opportunity for me to develop and
strengthen my leadership style and to help shape the lives of the young
men who are the future of Ohio Delta.
Unfortunately, it was the Chapter's poor performance several years ago
that initiated my arrival. Having previous experience working for the Phi
Kappa Psi National Headquarters in Indianapolis, I was hired to help
steer the Chapter in a better direction and to ensure that Ohio Delta's
130-year history as the oldest, continually operating fraternity on OSU's
campus lived on.
I am eternally grateful to the young alumni who stuck it out through
the social suspension period and paved the way for future generations
of Phi Psis. I have seen the Chapter integrate the use of functioning
Chapter committees to accomplish their semester and yearly goals.
Philanthropy and service work have become a part of the Chapter's
identity and sense of pride. The Chapter has made great strides to reduce
the risks incurred during social events and has taken active positions
within the Interfraternity Council at OSU. I have seen the Chapter's size
almost double; a fact that speaks to the monumental renovation of the
Chapter facilities, the quality of the Chapter's members, and the many
opportunities that members are afforded once accepted into the fold of
the Ohio Delta Chapter.
I am impressed by the insight that the undergraduate members have
developed. They care about their brothers, their future, and the success of
