In this day & age, any entertainer worth their salt has recorded at least one CD. Bernie & Red are no different, with over a dozen to their name. This year it was time for something new, but rather than a CD, they decided the printed word might be a better idea & with almost 50 years of married life & a 40 year show business career, they had a wealth of material to call on, so why not a book? Their autobiography is now available, entitled "Our Story", & it is just that, their story from child- hood in post war Liverpool to the present day. "This started out as just a song book" says Bernie, "There are so many amateur musicians & per- formers amongst our snowbird visitors, especially here in Quartz- ite, and they're all on the lookout for new material to perform, so we thought a book of our original com- positions might fi ll the bill". Red said, "Thankfully, the re- sponse to the book has been very positive, and people are really enjoying the photographs from our collection, which includes everything from childhood snaps, & wedding photographs to our fi rst promo shots & recent perfor- mance photos." In addition to all the lyrics, the book also includes a CD with re- cordings of all the songs that are in the book. Bernie & Red fi rst toured here in Arizona and Cali- fornia a decade ago & took the Snowbird entertainment scene by storm. They were different, a husband & wife team who presented a show fi lled with great music, (much of it their own originals), liberally interspersed with cheeky comedy, all delivered in an English accent. Since then they have built a large follow- ing of faithful fans who return to see their show each year, confi dent that they'll be seeing something new. Bernie & Red pride them- selves on producing a new show every year; this seems to be one the secrets to their lasting success. Another secret …well not really a secret …is their original comedy, which is aimed fairly and squarely at the Snowbird audience - which has seen them win the for the 2nd Snowbird favorites Bernie & Red return bringing comedy to Quartzsite year running the "People's Choice Award" for "Comedy Duo of the Year" in South Texas.
