F DARWIN JOSTON ACTOR N th C li i ACTOR He was born Francis Darwin Solomon on December 9, 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He passed away at age 60 on June 1, 1998 in his home town. He was also known as Darwin Jostin in the early years of his career. He began as a New York stage actor and later appeared in many popular television shows during the ‘60’s, early 70’s and late 80’s. He is, however, best known for his performances in independent fi lms that later achieved cult status. One in particular was “Assault on Precinct 13”. Joston attended Glenn High School in Kernersville, N. C. and was considered to be a talented athlete. He later studied drama at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated in 1960. After, he moved to New York where he worked for fi ve years and then moved to Los Angeles. He acted there mostly in television for over ten years. He had a recurring role in “Lassie” and then also acted in “The Rat Patrol”, “The Virginian”, “The Rookies”, “Ironside” and “McCloud”. In fi lm, his best and acting was that of Napoleon Wilson in the fi lm “Assault On Precinct 13”. He appeared in three more independent fi lms, the 1977 cult fi lm, “Eraserhead”, the horror fi lm, “The Fog” and “Gunman’s Blues”. He then worked on fi lm transportation crews until he retired in 1944. After retirement, he moved back to Winston-Salem. Several years later he died of leukemia. Many, including director Quentin Tarantino consider Joston to have been a vastly underrated actor whose great talent was underrated during his lifetime. 8:03 AM MONDAY THRU 1320AM FRIDAY WAGY Working For You Parts & Service for most brands Power Products Mower Batteries $18.99 (Exchange, limit 2) Register t win egister to win Cub Cadet T immer!
