As 2014 rolls in, so does a new season of red carpets to make
us green with style envy. What will this year's platinum jewelry
look like?
Color is still on the roster for 2014. Platinum jewelry, however is
on the slightly softer side. As Radiant Orchid was named the
Pantone 2014 Color of the Year, expect to see celebrities in
amethyst, pink sapphires and spinel, best set in platinum. What
star wants her gemstones to fall out while she poses for paparazzi?
Additionally, blue gemstones, both bold and muted, will continue
to hold their own and orange, which poked its head a little in
2013, will increase in popularity. Both are very distinct colors and
look their best set against the whiteness of platinum.
Platinum and pearls--another great combination. Pearls are get-
ting a makeover, and the new year will take them from stuffy to
chic. Mixing pearls with metal and gemstones provides an edgier
look that can be worn at both major awards shows and more
casual carpets. The pure whiteness of platinum accentuates the
natural hues of the pearl, and even just a small amount of
platinum will hold the pearls securely if a delicate and elegant
appearance is desired.
