2014 is off to a strong start – quite fitting for the Year of the Horse!
While attending the VicenzaOro show in Italy (January 18-21, 2014), I was
struck by the overwhelming optimism and rallied international market. The
lull has certainly become a steady gallop back to luxury goods. Retailers
and customers alike are ready to enjoy the finer things again. A strong US
presence in the global market was certainly evident and the year ahead looks
quite promising for the industry.
The beginning of the year is a time for forecasting and evaluating trends.
Much of the jewelry in the cases, expert opinion and designer forecasts all
point to a divergence from mass marketed jewels towards expressive and
unique choices that highlight individuality. Designers and customers are tell-
ing personal stories through the medium of metal and stone. This trend is
enveloping bridal as well. Interestingly, the new "stories" often include a
nostalgic nod to the past through retro nuances and style.
Please enjoy our designer feature on jewelry and bridal trends. Some of the
most innovative and respected designers in the industry are sharing their
predictions with you.
Next up is Centurion and believe it or not, Vegas is just around the corner!
Show season is upon us. Here's hoping that our paths cross and the Horse is
kind to you all.
Looking forward to a vibrant and successful year!
