Eat well, shop smart, and be healthy! Join us in the Better Choices Nutrition Program for 8 engaging and interactive sessions with your friends at the Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center located at 100 T.R. Harris Drive in Shelby. During the program you will sample new healthy foods, while learning the health benefits of fruits and vegetables and money saving strategies. You'll leave with a resource notebook, cookbook, water bottle, and full spice jar. This program will be very beneficial to diabetics and others who would like to be healthier. The program will focus on eating more fruits and vegetables, increasing physical activity, and much more. Program Registration began on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., but has been extended to February 6th at 10:00 a.m. There are a few seats left. If you are interested, you will have the opportunity to join on February 6th. Please plan to arrive by 9:45 a.m. to register. The program has space for up to 25 participants on a first come, first served basis. Sessions will be held on Thursdays from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on the following dates: Program Registration Has begun. Session One February 6, 2014 Session Two February 13, 2014 Session Three February 20, 2014 Session Four February 27, 2014 Session Five March 6, 2014 Session Six March 13, 2014 Session Seven March 20, 2014 Session Eight March 27, 2014 2014 Winter Flea Market and Ham Biscuit Sale The Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center will be hosting a Winter Flea Market and Ham Biscuit Sale on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. We will have lots of great items and vendors. Delicious country ham and plain biscuits will be available for purchase beginning at 8:00 a.m. and throughout the day. All bulk orders will need to be placed in advance by contacting Mary Hamrick at (704) 482-3488 or via email at mhamrick@agingcouncil.org. Lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and the menu will be hotdogs with all the trimmings, homemade desserts and beverage all for a great price! If you are interested in being a vendor, we would love to have you!
