This year, several civic groups, clubs, and school marching bands added a local flair to the event. The more than 1,800 guests who bought barbecue contest tickets on Saturday morning were the real barbecue contest winners. A ten-dollar ticket bought more than you could eat and sample at the contestant tents. As eating slowed down, the homecoming queen was crowned, alumni registered, and folks settled back to enjoy the beach sounds of the famous Craig Woolard Band. Craig and the boys put on a great show, and there was plenty of room for dancing in the street in front of the Home's administration building. The evening ended with an alumni roast and dance as guests prepared for a final day of remembrance and celebration with a family church service, business meeting, and alumni picnic Sunday under the oaks. Without the help of dedicated volunteers who share their time, travel, funds, and support, this wonderful celebration of the past, present, and future could not happen. Special thanks are extended to the Oxford City Police, Granville County Sheriff 's Office, Sudan, Amran, and Oasis Shrines and their parade units, participating Rainbow Girl Chapters and DeMolay volunteers, Masonic lodge volunteers, and alumni of Oxford Orphanage/MHCO. Mark your calendars, and make plans to join us in 2014. Preparation is already underway, and big announcements are scheduled for next year's Masonic Homecoming, October 10–12, 2014.
