It just might be as big as the last one. We had a good six inches. I like snow, so I always welcome it. Shawn Peticos: Yes, I cer- tainly do. I would hope it wouldn’t be as bad as this past snowfall. My two boys would love to have some more time off school. Carol Johnson: Yes, I do. I think that we may have yet another winter blast. I think we will have at least one more. That’s O.K. though, because I’m ready! CHURCH UNITY SUNDAY PULPIT EXCHANGE ON JAN. 23 The week of January 18-25 each year is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. To demonstrate this unity in Christ, two local pastors will exchange pulpits on January 23, the Sunday in that week. The Rev. Ronald Fink, Pastor of Advent Lutheran in Spindale, and the Rev. Jim Pyatt, Pastor of Spindale United Methodist Church (UMC), will trade places for Sunday worship. Fink will lead worship and preach at Spindale UMC. Pyatt will lead worship and preach at Advent. Each will lead the liturgy normally used in the congregation they are visiting. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the denomination to which Advent belongs, and the United Methodist Church have a Full Communion agreement. This allows the exchange of pastors in special circumstances. “We thought the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a special circumstance,” Fink said. “We discussed the exchange for 2010, but did not begin planning early enough. We did not let that happen this year. Lay leaders in both congregations gave us their approval,” Fink noted. “I am excited about this exchange,” Pyatt added, saying, “It will give us a better understanding of each others’ congregation and draw our con- gregations closer together.” Fink agreed, adding, “With the nearest ELCA congregation 20 miles away, it is important for us to build relationships with our sisters and brothers in Christ in other denominations.” Advent Lutheran is located at 118 Reveley Street, Spindale, next to Spindale House. Its worship service is at 11:00am. Spindale UMC is located at 381 Mill Street, Spindale. It has two services: a contemporary service at 8:45am and a traditional service at 11:00am. Visitors are welcome in both congregations. For more information: contact the Rev. Ronald W. Fink at 828-287-2056 OR e-mail adventlutheran@att. net or contact the Rev. Jim Pyatt at 828-286-2281 or e-mail Pyatt@bellsouth.net. Save Time, Money & Energy BIG WINDOW SALE! Roger Padgett: Yes! This year it’s been a lot colder than it has for quite a spell.
