Special thanks to all the alumni who attended the finals. SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS MADE IN ACADEMIC AND PHILANTHROPIC GOALS T he men of Michigan Alpha are proud to say that the chapter is doing very well this year. We took our early semester visit from Nationals to heart and are pleased to report that we are constantly making steps to meet our two highest goals: • Establish a higher chapter GPA • Increase participation in philanthropic efforts Finally, in the spirit of competition against the Buckeyes, the annual Blood Battle blood drive against Ohio State was held this fall. While some of the brothers were restricted from giving due to attendance at the Phi Kappa Psi leadership conference in Mexico last spring, many of the remaining men of Michigan Alpha donated in the hopes that the University of Michigan would donate more pints of blood than our rivals in Columbus. In our academic efforts, I'm pleased to announce that we exceeded the University average with a 3.2 cumulative GPA. As for our philanthropic goal, Brother Alex Clisham '12 helped raise Michigan Alpha to new highs. He organized multiple events to help raise over $10,000 for various charities. The first event was our first-ever Frats at Bat event with Tri Delta, which raised over $3,000 for St. Jude Children's Hospital. After completing this successful event with 12 other fraternities competing in a homerun derby-style event, we went straight to planning for Home for the Holidays, our annual philanthropy event with Kappa Kappa Gamma. As some of you may remember, Home for the Holidays is an opportunity for us to host less fortunate children from around southeast Michigan at the chapter house for an evening of gifts, dinner, and fun. Michigan Alpha had a strong recruiting class this fall with 28 young men going through the pledge term. They learned about the traditions of Phi Kappa Psi and Michigan Alpha and what it means to wear the letters. Tyler Aronne Pleasantville, N.Y. We are also proud to announce that we have elected a new executive board of young gentlemen who are eager to work hard for the brothers of Michigan Alpha, honoring our traditions and pushing the brotherhood towards new heights.
