Alumni Update Chapter Eternal Robert M. Skallerup '42 entered Chapter Eternal September 2, 2012. He loved Purdue and Sigma Phi Epsilon his entire life. Harry M. Rogers '44 entered Chapter Eternal May 18 with family at his side. He led a wonderful, exciting, productive, and long life. Family, friends, and the church community all loved him. He was inured at U.S. Naval Academy Columbarium in the class of 1946, but always talked about good ol' Purdue and SigEp. Welch '54 spent 21 years in USAF, and 20 years in marketing at Harris Corp., and three years teaching electrical engineering at Florida Institute of Technology. He resides in Satellite Beach, Fla. This way he can play golf all year round and his wife can garden and enjoy outdoor activities. They also get to enjoy their three children, 10 grandchildren, and one great‑grandchild in Arizona. They went to Switzerland in 2011, Scandinavia in 2012, Indochina in 2013, and plan on going to India and South Africa in 2014. They go bonefishing each year in the Bahamas. They have a winter home in Nevada and a summer home in Oregon. Gerhard N. Bolen '65 is currently living in Nashville, Tenn., but he has a home in Pont Charlotte, Fla., and plans to retire there in 2014. Gary L. He is looking at homes in Portland, Ore., to be closer to his kids and three grandkids. "We are snow New Alumni President Takes the Helm W hile Jarod Overton '00 has been alumni president since September, he's served as a member of the Alumni Board since graduating. He believes in paying it forward as a way to say thanks to the alumni who have helped him along the way. "I had a great experience living in this house.  When our New Member Educators told me to look to my left and to my right, and that these would be my friends for life, I was skeptical to say the least. It's been 16 years and both Steve Banks '98 and Jeff Anderson '98 were right!" he said. "Donating my time allows me to reunite with old friends as well as guide and mentor young SigEps." Jarod takes great pride in SigEp's focus: inspiring its undergraduates to excel academically, in sports, and as gentlemen. "We want to make sure these guys are balanced and have the ideals our fraternity was founded on." To Jarod, it's more than a place to socialize. Michael Gillam '77 and his wife, Beverly live in Los Angeles. His oldest daughter was While Jarod hails from Mooresville, Indiana, he has served in the U.S. Marine Corps for nine years. He currently holds the rank of captain and looks to be selected to the rank of major next summer. Even though he resides in Quantico, Virginia, technology, including Skype and video conferencing, help him to routinely keep in touch with the Alumni Board who are spread all over the country, and brothers living in the house. "Technology allows us to bring more talent in from far away. We have great volunteers spending countless hours to move this chapter forward, but we could always use more. Indiana Alpha is facing tough times right now. We have to take care of the chapter house and the members that keep it going. Our undergraduates need mentors.  It's a rewarding experience to see young people in your old fraternity house develop into world class leaders. I can't thank those on the AVC past and present, as well as the alumni that support 690 Waldron, enough." married in Danbury, Conn., on May 11, and the entire family gathered for the festivities.
