D������� 15, 2010 EXPECTATIONS FROM PAGE 12 We look for meaning or purpose in life and sometimes, feel like we lost it. Perhaps it started with the lost under- standing of true giving and receiving. Applying “what if” to my point at hand, what if all holiday traditions were erased and you were selected to create how we celebrate the season? What would you do differently? It is always a blessing to remember we cre- ate our experiences, as it is easy to cast blame on commercialism. We think commercialism ruined the holidays, forgetting we created commercialism. We asked children what they want. Our parents asked us. Wayne Dyers famous quote, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience” applies even to how we celebrate the holidays. Human experiences are full ���.D����� M��������.��� of expectations. Spiritual beings are full of trust. Trusting what life gives us, even if it is not what we want, can lead us to becoming better human be- ings. The gifts of life are usually seen in hindsight. Asking what we want leads us into expectations, creating a human experience and limiting the spiritual. Questions like why we do things, what if, the meaning of the season, of giving and receiving are all a part of awaken- ing to our true essence as spiritual be- ings.
