Page 5 Indiana Gamma Shows Leadership on Campus and in the Community T he Indiana Gamma Chapter has had a successful year and is looking forward to improving on our achievements. Recruitment SUCCESS The Indiana Gamma Chapter of Phi Delta Theta had great year for recruitment. We continue to recruit high-level members adding four new members in the fall open recruitment, 22 new members in formal recruitment, and five in spring open recruitment. Our Phikeia educator is revamping our program in hopes of providing a better Phikeia experience. Brotherhood ABOUNDS We are placing a stronger emphasis on brotherhood activities by holding small brotherhood events every week, and occasional big events like Homecoming, where a special guest made us food for a tailgate. AcTIVES BOOST 3.31 GPA In the spring, Phi Delta Theta placed first of all fraternities with a 3.31 GPA! This is our highest average GPA for the Chapter since spring 2010. We made changes in our academic policies that encourage Brothers to be more proactive when they are struggling and help us monitor progress more effectively. I'm very proud of all the hard work our Brothers put towards accomplishing this goal. BROTHERS WIN CHAMPIIONSHIP Phi Delta Theta has played in almost all of the 16 sports offered by Butler University, and we won championships in five. The year was started off with a championship in Ultimate Frisbee. The euchre championship game featured three of the four contestants representing Phi Delt. New member Mike Schau '16 won the contest. In the spring, Alex Schneider '14, Jon Collar '15, Ryan O'Connor '14, and Dan Williams '16 showed off their sports knowledge by winning the championship in Sports Trivia. Five new members paired up with five women from Kappa Kappa Gamma to play softball and won the entire tournament. The men's soccer team ran through the tournament and won the final match in penalty kicks to secure the championship. This year the A-football team and the Ultimate Frisbee team are undefeated and have high hopes of competing for a championship in their respective sports. BROTHERS HOSTED SEMI-FORMAL Phi Delta Theta has hosted events such as pumpkin carving, cookie baking, Sky Zone, and capture the flag. In September, we hosted our first ever semi-formal at the Castle, followed by a dance party featuring DJ EV. ParentS INTRODUCED TO FDQ In the spring, members hosted a cookout for parents of the new class to introduce them to the Fraternity. This year Phi Delta Theta will have two events for parents: the first was Chapter Officers President Tyler Charles '15 tcharles@butler.edu (317) 489-7120 Recruitment Chairman Adam Rominger '17 arominge@butler.edu (317) 435-4074 Vice President Ryan O'Connor '14 Scholarship Chairman Sam Smith '15 Secretary Matt Moehl '17 Risk Manager Ryan Tarnowski '15 Treasurer Michael Gorin '14 Alumni Secretary Adam Davis '14 Phikeia Educator Nick Neulieb '16 Social Chairman Mark Schubert '16 Warden Austin Aynes '15 Community Service Chairman Jonathan Golliher '16 Philanthropy Chairman Drew Horn '16 Public Relations Chairman Brock Brothers '15 Historian Sam Harmon '16 Φ Δ Θ during Butler Parent's Weekend on November 9, and we plan to host the second in the spring following the same format of last year's event. Alumni EVENTS PLANNED Plans are in the works for a networking night where Brothers can network with alumni over dinner, as well as an alumni golf outing. If you would like to be a part of these events or have ideas for other events, please contact Alumni Secretary Adam Davis '14 at amdavis1@butler.edu. Community Service EMPHASIZED Community Service Chairman Jon Golliher '15 has planned many great events for Brothers to serve the community while promoting our brotherhood in the process. We paired with the women of Alpha Chi Omega to serve Thrifty Threads, a local non-profit organization. Future events include working with the ALS Association of Indiana to help put on their annual Walk to Defeat ALS. All of our success would not be possible without the support of our alumni. I encourage any Brothers in the area to stop by the Chapter House and see the accomplishments we've made. Yours in the Bond, Tyler Charles '15 President tcharles@butler.edu Congratulations, Brothers!
