"Searching for the right wedding ring is a journey that moves the soul and takes your heart for a ride." By Katharine James Katharine James Love. What a beautiful journey. It takes on many forms and still is the one thing that will always stay true to what it is. We can love our mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers. We can love our friends and cherish those friendships throughout our lifetime… but when we find that special love that bonds us to our own better side, we know in an instant there is no turning back, indeed your heart is going for a ride for the rest of your life. You have found an inner peace that resides with the fact that this is the one who will be there to cherish and share all the moments of the future you are ready to create as one. A journey that begins with the fact that you are in love! The planning begins. The wedding, the dress, the honeymoon, buying a home, having children and on it goes. However, one of the first things that lovers do is dream about the very symbol that will bond them forever, the wedding ring. A beautiful mark that is the sole reflection of their dedication to one another, and after a lifetime of love shared will become an heirloom which shall be cherished again by the next generation, celebrated as a symbol of a beautiful love they had witnessed. The search begins. This will mark a moment in time that will never be forgotten. We search the internet, blogs, wedding magazines and any source that will help us. It has been apparent to me that couples spend a lot of focus in researching the diamond, beginning with the four C's. Arriving to the jeweler well armed with the knowledge to find the perfect diamond, trusting them to lead the way. And then… on to the setting! There was a time not long ago that 'settings' were secondary to the diamond – pretty… typically in gold, and off you went. Today the preferred metal is platinum for its unique wear, color and quality, while gold remains strong for its luster and beauty. In just a few short years the market has come a long way. Talented designers have emerged on the scene to bring you true pieces of art! It is important to understand the difference of product versus art when it comes to choosing the setting that will adorn your diamond. It is the difference between buying a picture that hangs on a wall or a masterpiece that will increase in value by the very nature of how it was created to live for generations. Great designer jewelry is envisioned by an artist inspired, and true artisans hand finish to the very last detail. This is when you to invest a little more time with your jeweler who will point out the difference of art verses product. They will introduce you to distinguishing features such as handbeading, soft milgrain, hand etching, the finest polish and the best diamond setting that is to be had. All of what you will put into this journey to find the wedding ring that moves your soul and takes your heart for a ride will endure for the hearts and souls you will eventually meet again in spirit. 94 W W W.theWeddingringbook.CoM
