CHEERFUL GIVING Great, budget-friendly gifts for everyone on your list So you slept in and missed all the Black Friday sales? Never fear, we went shopping for you. It’s not too late to find something for everyone, without running up your credit cards in the process: Even that impossible-to-shop for person on your list won’t be able to control her smile when you present her with an Embellish Your Story magnetic system, available at Betty Kelly’s gift shop on Hay Street. Prices for the sets range from $8 to $25 and allow you to use magnets to customize picture frames, memo boards, metal buckets and even your front door. While you’re in Betty Kelly’s, check out the wide variety of stationery in the back. For a small fee (about $10) the store will personalize a stationery set with initials or a name and have it ready for you to wrap up and give within a week. Especially cute are the clear acrylic boxes of customizable notes and cards by Itty Bitty Company for $25. Even when the stationery is gone, the box is still there and can be used to hold other things. Got a friend who believes pets are people, too? Woof Boutique and Barkery on Sycamore Dairy Road sells an ACU- patterned chew toy for a soldier’s little buddy for $11, a fabulous little dog party dress for $68 and a fancy beaded party collar for any sized dog for $6. And for dogs who plan to celebrate the eight crazy nights of Hanukkah, Woof has a food bowl marked “Kosher” for $18 and, of course, dreidel and Star of David dog toys for $7. For the outdoorsy-types. Patriot Outfitters in Spring Lake sells a set of silicone Squishy Bowls, made by Guyot Designs, for $18. The bowls can be mashed into the corner of a backpack and weigh almost nothing, making them an ideal gift for serious campers and hikers. 52 | Winter • 2010/2011
