Phi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Kansas Notes of the Lyre Fall 2013 Renovations Make an Impact During Recruitment O House Corporation Looking for New Volunteers n behalf of the House Corporation Board, it is a joy to share with you many wonderful highlights occurring at Phi. This summer we finished the renovations to the bedrooms on the fifth and sixth floors, replacing the sleeping dorms with four-girl live-in rooms. All four-girl studies have been replaced with two-girl live-in rooms and all the rooms have built-in beds, dressers, closets, desks, and new floors. We removed the old phone booths and kitchenette on the fifth floor, paving the way for cozy conversation areas to take their place. It's wonderful to hear how excited the ladies were to come back to the house to see the renovations, as well as hear from other chapters during mock recruitment, and the potential new members going through recruitment, about how fabulous the rooms were. With this being the first major renovation to the house in 45 years, these areas are more pleasing to the eye and provide a more homelike atmosphere for our undergraduates. Officer Elections at November Board Meeting The board will elect new officers at the November meeting with the elected positions being president (two-year term), treasurer (two-year term), secretary (one-year term), and communication chairwoman. We are pleased to welcome new member Holly Heckathorn Kabler '91 and new Parent's Club President Kelly Setter to the board, and I'm honored to have the assistance, commitment, and energy of all our members, including the collegians currently serving. If you would like to join, we generally meet four to five times a year, conducting the majority of our business via e-mail. Please contact me if you are interested in hearing more. Information Needed for Centennial Celebration Stacy Abernethy '96 is working with KU alumni and Alpha Chi Omega Headquarters to verify contact information for the centennial celebration. If you have moved, changed e-mail addresses, or have any other different contact information, please send updates to Stacy at stacyabs@ sbcglobal.net. She will forward your updated information to headquarters and the chapter. Additionally, if you know anyone who is not receiving the Notes of the Lyre newsletter, please e-mail Stacy to get them on the mailing list. If you are not receiving The Lyre quarterly magazine from headquarters, please contact receptionist@alphachiomega.org. I would like to thank my board members for their continuous support and dedication to Phi Chapter. You rock!
