Lambda: Proud Past — Promising Future
To Make Better Men

New Lambda Chapter House Beginning to Take Shape
Construction Costs Rising, Your Gift Is Needed Now More Than Ever
C
onstruction is underway at Lambda Chapter! We are in the
framing phase of our renovation with continuing work on the
dorm addition. The lower and main levels are complete and work
is now commencing on the upper level. All rooms in the 1936 House and
the library addition are also framed in. One now gets the feel that this is a
much larger house.
Rough plumbing and electrical work has also started. Workers are laying
cement block for the elevator shaft and a new water main has been
plumbed to the house that will accommodate enough water flow for the fire
suppression system. In addition, a new sewer line has also been plumbed
into the city's sanitary sewer system.
To see our vision of a new Lambda Chapter House finally taking shape
is exciting, and it is a tangible symbol of the hard work and effort our
campaign volunteers have invested in this endeavor. However, there is still
much to be done. To date, we have raised $2,285,024. Construction bids
have come in higher than what was quoted during our initial project
estimate. The new estimate is $3.2 million.
With almost $1 million left to meet cost, I ask that if you have not contributed,
to fill out the enclosed pledge card and return your commitment today. You
may not realize it, but your gifts are more than an investment in our
physical structure, they are an investment in the young men of Lambda
Chapter and the University of Minnesota, as well. The dividends show
themselves as those students, young Alpha Gamma Rho men, who graduate
and are better citizens as a result of their Lambda Chapter experience. They
go on to live honestly and honorably, creating a better society in which our
children and grandchildren will live.
