Kansas Chapter Starts Out Strong (Continued from page 1) This year, at the end of the new members' first week, they touched on Kansas DU history by spending a little time looking through the bound DU Quarterlies in the library. Then we discussed the articles they found about Chapter events from earlier decades. Going forward, this activity might be especially enriched by the presence of alumni participants who could explain some of the differences between then and now. There is a lot of history in this institution and building; I notice that the undergraduates enjoy telling their families about it. The Chapter House is in good shape because the alumni have so generously provided for it, in ways that are consistent with the norms of this era. As you know, given the age of the facility, the predictably hard use by athletic, still-growing young men, and the changing regulatory environment, there is a continuing need to not only maintain systems, but to upgrade or replace their components. On behalf of the undergraduates and their parents, I want to express deep appreciation for all of the work that has been, and continues to be, done.
