A local matchmaker works her magic to find a perfect mate on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Group looks to ‘Knock ’Em Dead’ COBLESKILL —The Theater Project will present “Knock ‘Em Dead” at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Best Western in Cobleskill. The show, by Tom Old- endick and Will Roberson, includes dinner and focuses on a murder at Vinne’s Belly Laugh Club. Directed by Cherie Stevens and produced by Ron Cleeve, it features Vern Hall, Nelson Bradshaw, Libby Ham- mecker, Leslie Rigley, Posie Shaw, Dennis Shaw and Josh from the 60s, 70s and 80s at 9 p.m. Saturday at the One- onta Theatre, 47 Chestnut St. in Oneonta. Featured artists include The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye and The Supremes. Also look for the psychedelic sounds of the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix; the stylings of Bob Dylan and Creedence Clearwater Revival; and the hard rock sounds of Black Sabbath, Kiss, AC/DC and more. Poets to read in Treadwell TREADWELL —Word Thurs- days will feature Oneonta poet Pam Strother and Han- cock poet Lisa Wujnovich at the last reading of the 2010 season Thursday. They will read from their works after the open mic, which begins at 7 p.m. and during which all those pres- ent may read from their own work or that of others for up to five minutes. The readings will take place in the Word & Image Gallery at Bright Hill Literary Center, now featuring “Ready to Fold: Nine Artist Books by Melissa Whalen Haertsch, Michael Poster, and Ivana Pavelka,” all of Pennsyl- vania. Bright Hill is located at 94 Church Street, Treadwell, one block north of Barlow’s General Store. There is a $3 admission (free to those 18 and under). Strother has organized poetry programs, read- ings, and seminars, and was a reader at Robert Frost Poetry Festival. Wujnovich holds an MFA in poetry from Drew University.
