Local Eats See you at the Cross Roads When there is a chill in your bones that you cannot shake and the sun refuses to break through the clouds, I urge you to get into your car and visit the Cross Roads Café. Owner Pamela Guy, formerly of Farm- lett’s, her grandparent’s restaurant, and Marriot’s Marco Island resort in Florida, describes her café as a “safe haven” where folks can leave their problems behind and unwind at this “cozy, little getaway.” Located on Main Street in Delhi, Pamela opened the Cross Roads Café in Febru- ary 2002, when the owners of Bojaica’s Coffee Bar decided to move from Delhi. Pamela had worked at Bojaica’s and decided that the place and timing was good, and transformed it into Cross Roads. Since then, the café has grown from coffee hangout to restaurant where she and head chef, Danielle Zeccardi, are kept busy in the kitchen with catering orders and customers at the restaurant. For a late, Friday afternoon the café was quite busy. While many customers are locals, Cross Roads also gets a mix of SUNY Delhi college faculty and tourists. The service was friendly, and the fare is best described as healthy comfort food. I ordered The B.B.Q. Tempeh and Red Onion and my husband, Joe, the Chef Salad, which we both deemed wonder- fully filling and tasty. The menu has several vegan, gluten- free and vegetarian options alongside carnivorous choices like Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad and Salmon Burger. Wraps, quesadillas, salads, soups and sandwiches dominate the menu, but I also recommend taking a look into their salad and baked goods cases. Breakfast is served until 11 a.m. weekdays and noon weekends, consisting of omelets, pancakes, french toast, eggs and home fries. This pleasant spot in Delhi also features live music the last Friday of every month, artwork by local artists, local produce when available and eco-friendly takeout containers. — Hope Von Stengel 20 O-Town Scene Nov. 11, 2010
