Thursday, November 4-November 10, 2010 www.rutherfordweekly.com RUTHERFORD COUNTY LAUNCHES PROMOTIONAL VIDEO SERIES Rutherford County is pleased to announce a new resource on the county government website, www.rutherfordcountync. gov. On the homepage, visitors can now access nine new promotional videos showcasing the county’s assets. Just click on the Video TourBook box on the bottom left hand corner. The nine, one-minute streaming videos highlight the best the county has to offer its residents, visitors and busi- nesses. Topics include: Welcome video, Quality of Life, Education, Economic Development, Healthcare, Relocation & Real Es- tate, Heritage, Tourism & Attractions, Small Town Magic. The Small Town Magic video is a two minute video show- casing the incorporated towns of Rutherfordton, Spindale, Forest City, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. All other eight videos are one minute in length. Brent Washburn, Chairman of the Board of County Com- missioners commented that, “The new video series is an ex- cellent testimony to the beautiful county we call home. It is an accessible resource that many different groups can use to promote our county.” These videos were made possible through CGI Commu- nications. This company works with towns and counties all over the United States, helping them promote their communi- ties. The videos were produced free of charge to Rutherford County. This project began back in January 2010 when a team was put together to work on the scripting of each video. This committee had complete control over scripting and video editing and included members from the towns, parks and recreation, county historians, the Economic Development Commission, the Tourism Development Authority, Rutherford County Schools, Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, local realtors, Rutherford Hospital and local health care providers. It was an open forum for all who were interested to partici- pate. County Manager, John Condrey also echoed these thoughts by stating, “I’d like to thank the entire team that came togeth- er to work on this project and make it successful. It is great new asset we can utilize in our recruitment toolbox.” The Rutherford County government website has approxi- mately 25,000 visitors per month. The website also features GIS/property information, forms and regulations for different county departments, tax lookup and a calendar of events. You can access the website by going to www.rutherfordcoun- tync.gov. CGI Communications is the largest provider of fully pro- duced internet videos in North America and has partnerships with the U.S. Conference of Mayors, National League of Cit- ies, and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. They are a premiere corporate member of the National Association of Counties (NACo). CGI Communications streams video from more than 2,000 municipal websites in North America and is currently working with more than 100 counties across the United States. 30% tax credit on Buck Stove wood heaters and save on heating costs! After each day’s hunt, I would arrive back to the lodge at about nine-thirty p.m. with barely enough energy to eat before crashing and doing it all over again the next day. The fi rst morning of any hunt, adrena- line makes up for lost sleep. After that, it’s all willpower and knowing the guys across the hall are having the same struggle and won’t have any sympathy when it’s time to pull out. No matter how I feel, others will be waiting on me and some of the younger ones will even be depending on me to be the fi rst to roll out of the bed. It’s all about accountability. And it’s some- thing we all need. Just this morning I met one of my run- ning partners for our morning jog. I was not feeling much like running and was hoping that my friend would be satisfi ed to take an easy path. He was not. Instead, he insisted that we do our regular six miler, but with the hills included that I so wanted to forgo. I, of course, succumbed to his desire, complaining the entire way until we fi nished. At the end of that run, I felt great and thankful for someone who would hold me accountable. The Bible says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor, or if they fall, one will lift up his companion.” To say that you don’t need anybody is the height of arrogance and ignorance. It simply means that you are unwilling to deal with your problem or have yielded to the lie that you cannot change. Friend, we all need accountabil- ity in some area of our life that is more important than getting up early enough to get to a tree stand. If you truly want to change call on God fi rst, and then call on a friend to hold you accountable to do whatever it is that God has asked you to do. You might kick and scream along the way, but at the end you will be thank- ful for someone who ignored your com- plaints and wouldn’t let you sleep or take the easy path to get to where you really wanted to be anyway.
