p W Marshall Waren 12 | Oct/Nov • 2010 ublisher NEW BEGINNINGS ell, folks, business is always interesting and challenging. One of the reasons so many small companies go out of business is their inability to handle the stress of change. We are no exception at CityView but we continue to adapt and succeed. As I wrote you last issue, our general manager, Ashlee Cleveland, left to be home fulltime with her family. Editor Allison Williams is now leaving for another opportunity and we wish her well. Allison was CityView’s fourth editor and had the job the longest, starting with us for the April/ May issue of 2008. She has been a major part of our success the past few years. This is just a set of circumstances that occur in the cycle of business. However, we have been blessed to add two outstanding journalists to our staff in the editorial department, Rebekah Sanderlin and Kelly Twedell. They have both written for CityView in the past and we look forward to them making a positive impact on the growth and success of the magazine. It occurs to me that there’s truth to the saying that the more things change, the more they stay the same. In this issue we highlight Hope Mills, a town that is growing by leaps and bounds. One example is the new Millstone Village development on Camden Road which includes a new Putt-Putt Fun Center. As you may remember, we featured Putt-Putt in our Dogwood Issue two years ago and its founding here in Fayetteville. Now, after years of absence, Putt-Putt is back in our community. Several friends are responsible for its resurrection here, and I’m so happy to see its rebirth. This is our Green Issue and I hope you will enjoy it. We have a lot of good stuff about what is green in our area. I have mixed feelings about the term “green” because some people get so hyped up on the environment. However it is a commandant from God to watch over His creation. God basically said: “I am the Creator who has made everything. All that you see is good, and it’s your job to keep it that way”. We at CityView are dedicated to that preamble. One of my favorite pieces of scripture is Psalm 19. The beginning verses say it all: The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands. Day after day they pour out our speech; night after night they communicate knowledge”.CV
